This is a Burrowing Owl. As I was getting closer to its nest, it got angry and started a defensive behavior, getting this scary look. I did a research and I brought some information so that we can all learn interesting things about these wonderful birds, the owls.

The Burrowing Owl is a small, long-legged owl found throughout open landscapes of North and South America. They nest and roost in burrows, and that's why they're called this way. They are often active during the day, unlike most owls.

The time at which an owl hunts can be determined by the colour of its eyes. Dark brown or black eyes indicate nocturnal activity, orange indicates dawn or dusk, and owls with yellow eyes are diurnal and hunt during the day. Of course there are exceptions, and there are other indicators of its active hours.

The Owls are an order of birds of prey. Much of the owl's hunting strategy depends on stealth and surprise. They have at least two adaptations that aid them in achieving stealth. First, the dull coloration of an owl's feathers can render them almost invisible under certain conditions. Secondly, serrated edges on the leading edge of the owl's remiges muffle the owl's wingbeats, allowing its flight to be practically silent.

Once prey has been captured, the owl's sharp beak and powerful talons allow it to kill its prey before swallowing it whole (unless it is too big).

That is an awesome picture, just be careful that you do not disturb it.

We writers constantly work towards a common goal. To describe in such a flowing way, any object, that it may feed the mind's eye more than any picture possibly could.

Cool close shot! It almost appears to be in perfect symmetry!

Burrowing owls is quite an unusual species of owl... They even SLEEP differently - so I've heard - and that sort of adds to the info you gave. Just thinking...they're interesting...

Again, :+fav:
