Sunset in Bahia, Brazil, in the island of Itaparica. There was a fence so I was a bit limited to take this photo, but it turned out very well in the end. It is always worth to go take photos at the sunset time, specially when it's summer and you're in a tropical country like mine. Notice the tall palm trees on the background, very common in the north of the country, which is hotter and has very beautiful beaches.
It must be great to have the opportunity to witness such a beautiful sunset, calmly waiting for an innocent fish to get fooled by the bait. All done with the nature as partner, not being alone, but being surrounded with the beauties of it. I thought that the fisherman was just fishing like he does everyday, kinda used to see such thing. For me, he was witnessing something magical. For him, he was just... Fishing.
Processed in HDR.
EDIT: Processed the colors again. The older version had the colors a bit 'dead', now it is much better.
This is such a calming picture, graced by gorgeously interlocking hot and cold colors. The clouds are beautiful, their reflection just perfect. It's something you might think to see coming from a book like Tom Sawyer or The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, what with the serene, laid-back atmosphere and the old-fashioned fishing rod. The ripples have been captured perfectly, offering a great focal point away from the sky and into the shadows, where the fishing pole guides the eye to the fisherman sitting patiently, silhouetted against the dark blues of the reflected sky. This picture tells a story, and tells it better than a great majority of photos do, achieving all the while exactly what every photograph should: A story guided by composition.
